The Book Report Library

Flip through the card catalog, sign out a book, and read along with Jim one chapter at a time. Class starts once enough readers sign a book out: 1 for a standalone, 3 for a series. No late fees. No librarian giving you the look.

How the Book Report works

Sign one out

Find a book in the card catalog and hit “I’ll read along.” Ebook, print, or audio all count.

Readers start class

1 for a standalone, 3 for a series (not counting Jim). Sign a book out and it moves to Suggested. Once enough readers are in, Jim moves it to In Class Now and posts Chapter 1.

A chapter a week

Or one every two weeks when Jim’s juggling a few. Slow readers welcome. Nobody’s timing you.

Talk it out, then grade it

Every chapter gets talked through on the podcast, and the conversation lives in the comments on that chapter’s YouTube video. When we finish the last chapter, the book is Graded.

Fell behind? Only read half? Come anyway. Half a book report is still more than most of us turned in back in the day.

Suggest a book

Got one the class should read? Pass Jim a note. If we can find it in the library records, it goes up right away under Book Suggestions so the class can vote on it. Jim adds the favorites to his Wishlist, and it goes on the shelf once he gets a copy.
